 Emergency Procedures
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
If you smell propane gas in your house, workplace, or around any gas equipment or appliances, follow this emergence procedure:
- Put out all smoking materials and other open flames—do not operate electric switches, do not light matches, and do not use your phone.
- Immediately get everyone out of the building.
- Close all gas tank or cylinder supply valves.
- Use your neighbor’s phone to call South Central Grain & Energy. Do not re-enter the building until we have advised you it’s safe to return.
- Our trained service person will perform a pressure check on your system, repair any leaks, turn on the gas, and relight your pilots.
- Re-enter the area only after our trained person says it’s safe.
